The secret to healthy hair isn’t just about what you put on the ends, it’s also about the health of your scalp. This simple routine helps remove buildup, stimulate circulation, and create a healthy environment for hair growth.
Dry Brush/Exfoliate
Start with a gentle scalp massage on dry hair to loosen dead skin cells and product buildup. You can find my favorite tool for scalp exfoliation here.
Apply Pre-Shampoo Treatment
Use a clarifying oil or serum that helps to loosen up even the most stubborn debris. My clients love it when I use this in the salon!
Cleanse
Follow with a sulfate-free shampoo (unless you have extra product buildup; follow with a hydrating shampoo for a second cleanse). Focus on massaging the scalp.
This clarifying shampoo is a regular in my product lineup.
Rinse & Condition
Use a moisturizing conditioner on the mid-lengths to ends. Need a little extra TLC? You’ll love this conditioning treatment.
Final Rinse
A cool water rinse helps seal the hair cuticle, helping to prevent frizz! Don’t forget to dry your hair afterwards with a microfiber hair towel to reduce friction and breakage. These are the ones I have been using forever!
If you already have a great haircare routine, this 10-minute detox is great once a month or whenever you notice your hair and scalp need a boost. If you are a regular product junkie and like to extend your shampoo days, once a week or twice a month may be the best frequency for you.
